The 1949 film noir spy thriller Conspirator is now available for $19.95 through Warner Archives, Warner Bros.' "made to order" DVD service. Conspirator stars a young Elizabeth Taylor as a naive bride who discovers that her husband, dashing RAF major Robert Taylor, is a Communist agent. As she urges him to abandon his traitorous ways, his controller in turn orders him to kill her. One Taylor is torn between lover for her husband and patriotism, while the other is torn between love for his wife and duty to what he believes to be a greater cause. A young, pre-Avengers and pre-Pussy Galore Honor Blackman co-stars as Liz's friend Joyce. Speaking of Bond Girls in Warner Archive DVDs, this week the studio releases the Hammer classic She, starring Ursula Andress, in that format. It's never before been available on Region 1 DVD.
