Tradecraft: Malin Akerman And Ethan Hawke Enter Numbers Station

Variety reports that Malin Akerman (Watchmen) has joined Ethan Hawke in what the trade describes as a "CIA thriller" called The Numbers Station.  "The $10 million pic sees Hawke play a disgraded Black Ops agent tasked with a dead-end job of protecting a young woman in the middle of the Nevada desert.  When the two come under attack, they have to fight to stay alive."  Based only on that log line, it sounds kind of like a lower budget, less high-profile version of the Denzel Washington/Ryan Reynolds project Safe House... Of course that doesn't mean it won't turn out to be the better of the pair. (Personally, I'd rather watch Akerman than Reynolds any day.) F. Scott Frazier wrote The Numbers Game, and Kaspar Barfoed (The Lost Treasure of the Knights Templar) will direct.  Hawke produces along with Sean and Bryan Furst.
