Tradecraft: Paramount Acquires Period Spy Thriller For Bad Robot
Deadline reports that Paramount has optioned a spec script by Patrick Aison called Wunderkind for J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot production company. Abrams and Bryan Burk will produce. According to the trade blog, "Wunderkind is an elevated two-handed action thriller set in the 1970s following a young Nazi hunter with the CIA and an older Nazi hunter working for the Mossad. The two become reluctantly intertwined in their hunt and shocking twists result." I hope this gets made. I'm always pleased to see Cold War-era spy movies hit the screen, and last year's Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy proved that the Seventies is a particularly rich era to mine in that genre.
