FX has set a January 30 premiere date for its Eighties-set Cold War spy drama The Americans. The series will air Wednesdays at 10, in the slot that's been successful for American Horror Story. The Americans boasts a lot of spy cred behind the scenes, as it was created by CIA agent-turned-novelist (An Ordinary Spy) Joseph Weisberg and produced by Graham Yost, who penned a childhood favorite non-fiction spy book of mine, Spy-Tech, before becoming one of the hottest producers in TV with shows like Justified. Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys play KGB spies posing as a married couple (complete with kids) and living in America, trying to maintain their cover and their fake marriage, and trying to evade an FBI counterintelligence agent.
