Tradecraft: Salt Sequel Gathers Steam

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Colombia Pictures is in negotiations with a somewhat unlikely scribe to pen the continuing adventures of Evelyn Salt: Becky Johnston, who's best known for Prince of Tides and Seven Years in Tibet. Last year we heard that Kurt Wimmer, who wrote the original film, was working on the sequel. According to the trade, however, star Angelina Jolie favors Johnston as the frontrunner to take over after a lengthy search. The important point is, there is still a sequel to Salt in development. I mean... they owe us one after that cop-out ending to the first film! (The theatrical version, anyway. There are two better endings on the DVD.) Director Phillip Noyce, for his part, has stated that he has no interest in returning to that well.

I may have to dust off the DVD and have a look at the alternate endings. However, your use of the Angelina Jolie picture from the poster of "Mr & Mrs Smith" makes me wish for a sequel to that film moreso than "Salt". Still, any movie where Ms Jolie is running around with a pistol is a good thing.

Couldn't agree more about Angelina.

She *sure* does look gorgoeus in that picture.....

Me too! That's why I preferred to use that image than anything from Salt. I would much, MUCH rather see another Mr. & Mrs. Smith than another Salt movie! Much more.
