Pay $30 For A "Free" Exclusive Nick Fury, Agent Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Action Figure

Have you been searching and searching for a Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. figure from Marvel's blockbuster new 3 3/4 inch "Marvel Universe" action figure line? If so, you're searching in vain. It's not available in stores. Even though the one-eyed comic book superspy is pictured on every single package in the line, the only way to get a (quite cool) Fury figure in that size is as a mail-in premium. In order to get the limited-edition figure (which comes in neat black box with the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo and an arsenal of accessories), you must subscribe to Marvel's Digital Comics Unlimited. Personally, I hate reading comic books on my computer, so that's not very appealing, but if it does appeal to you, then it might be a pretty good deal. I'm not sure how many comics you get access to, but it sounds like it might be a lot. The options are $59.88 for a full year's subscription, or $24.99 for three months' worth. Add to that the $4.99 "shipping and handling" fee that you must include with your mail-in certificate, and you're paying almost thirty bucks for the "free" figure, minimum. (And be careful, because it looks like Marvel will helpfully use your stored credit card information to automatically renew your subscription unless you stop it.) Still, it's a very cool figure (I saw it at Comic-Con, which is where the blurry picture at right comes from), and it's probably worth the money and the effort to Fury fans. Go here for all the details on how to get this latest Nick Fury action figure.
