The first trailer is out for the big screen remake of The Equalizer. Denzel Washington steps into the role made famous by Edward Woodward on the Eighties TV show, that of Robert McCall, a former intelligence agent who uses his unique skill set to help people with the odds against him. At least that's what the show was about. The movie looks a little different. And while it does have a shot of a car's headlights turning on (albeit a wide shot from afar), the classic Stewart Copeland theme is nowhere to be heard.

Dammit, I had a character in my Bond fan fictions who uses a chronograph to time how long she takes to fight and kill somebody. Dammit!
Trailer looks good, though, but I have to wonder how far it strays from the original source material. Still, Denzel alone will be worth the price of admission. Thanks for the heads-up!
Oh dear, this looks like any other revenge porn shoot-em-up. Why bother with the title and character from the series when there's so little retained? The fans won't bother going and the kids won't have a clue what it's meant to be referencing.
Yeah, that's kind of my feeling, too, Jon.
It's always puzzling when a studio takes a 30 year old property that's long out of the public's mass consciousness and revises it completely, leaving little of the original left. The Ironside remake was a huge TV flop.
