New SPECTRE Trailer

After a very effective teaser back in March, MGM and Sony have released the first full trailer for SPECTRE, the 24th official James Bond movie. And, unsurprisingly, it looks utterly fantastic, with plenty of great imagery for longtime Bond fans to chew on. Daniel Craig in a white dinner jacket! Christoph Waltz in a Nehru jacket! And Q once more unveiling a new Aston Martin for 007... with "a few little tricks up her sleeve." It's about time Bond had some real gadgets again! (Not that I want this Aston to turn invisible, mind you. Just some practical tricks, please!) SPECTRE opens November 6 in the United States, and a week earlier in the UK.

EON also released a new plot description of the film. Personally, I don't consider things put out officially by the studio to be spoilers, but this description definitely reveals more about the plot than I'd seen anywhere before. (I've been avoiding any information based on the script leaked in the Sony hack.) So bear that in mind if you choose to read further.
A cryptic message from the past sends James Bond on a rogue mission to Mexico City and eventually Rome, where he meets Lucia Sciarra (Monica Bellucci), the beautiful and forbidden widow of an infamous criminal. Bond infiltrates a secret meeting and uncovers the existence of the sinister organisation known as SPECTRE.

Meanwhile back in London, Max Denbigh (Andrew Scott), the new head of the Centre for National Security, questions Bond’s actions and challenges the relevance of MI6, led by M (Ralph Fiennes). Bond covertly enlists Moneypenny (Naomie Harris) and Q (Ben Whishaw) to help him seek out Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux), the daughter of his old nemesis Mr White (Jesper Christensen), who may hold the clue to untangling the web of SPECTRE. As the daughter of an assassin, she understands Bond in a way most others cannot.

As Bond ventures towards the heart of SPECTRE, he learns of a chilling connection between himself and the enemy he seeks, played by Christoph Waltz.

It really does look amazing and I can't believe we hear the theme from OHMSS pop up in the second half! That alone made the trailer even better! I just hope Thomas Newman (who scored the trailer) utilizes those cues on the final soundtrack!

It is indeed very cool to hear the OHMSS theme (my favorite Barry theme ever) in there, and in a great version! Is it confirmed that Newman scored this trailer? If so, that's very cool! I really hope they release this music, either as a single on iTunes or else on a future compilation, the way we finally got the GoldenEye trailer version of the Bond Theme on a compilation after years of requests. I don't know if I'd like to hear OHMSS in the final movie though. That seems kind of odd to me. I suppose if it were really thematically relevant it could work, but I just associate it so much with the movie it was written for. I would love, however, to hear Newman incorporate Barry's 007 into his score! There's a theme (last heard in... Octopussy?) crying out to be used again! Incidentally, this isn't the first time OHMSS music has been used to advertise a new Bond film. There were TV spots for TWINE that used the original version, as well as spots that used the Propellerheads' remix of Goldfinger. I do love it when they tie the series together in the advertising!

I believe it was in Moonraker that Barry last dusted off the "007 Theme." It was used during the boat chase / hang gliding at Iguacu Falls.
